023- Fixed Blades for EDC (Audio)

In this special Podcasthon edition of EDC‑TV, Grant, Abe, and Inky kick things off by supporting the Movember Foundation, raising awareness for men’s health, mental health, and suicide prevention. From there, the crew dives straight into the gear talk listeners love, starting with Inky’s latest knife acquisition and Abe’s surprisingly capable dollar‑store utility knife. The conversation shifts into a deep‑dive on fixed blades for everyday carry, exploring what works, what doesn’t, and why some designs succeed where others fall short. Grant brings out the Boker Canoe Kayak Knife, designed by Abe of Diving Sparrow Knifeworks, sparking a candid discussion about real‑world compromises in knife manufacturing, from serration patterns and handle geometry to sheath systems, heat‑treat variability, and the realities of mass production. Along the way, the hosts share personal stories, practical tips, and expert insights on materials, magnetic sheaths, leather strops, and what truly matters when choosing or designing a fixed blade for EDC. The episode wraps with gratitude, laughs, and a reminder to support the Movember Foundation and the Podcasthon initiative. ✅ Episode Takeaways • Why fixed blades can be great (or terrible) for EDC • Real‑world design compromises in knife manufacturing • How serrations, heat treat, and handle geometry affect performance • The pros and cons of magnetic sheaths and leather strops • Personal stories from decades of knife use, design, and repair • A reminder to support men’s health through Movember #EDCTV #EverydayCarry #FixedBlades #KnifeCommunity #KnifeReview #KnifeDesign #EDCGear #OutdoorGear #GearTalk #MultitoolOrg #BokerKnives #DivingSparrowKnifeworks #Podcasthon #Movember #MensHealth #KnifeLife #EDCAddict #GearReview #OutdoorCommunity #KnifeCollectors #KnifeTalk #GearNerd
