024 - Listening > Speaking
from Welcome to my Pep Talk Hosted by Stephanos Horvers
In this episode, I'm diving deep into a skill that's becoming increasingly rare in our fast-paced, digital world: the art of listening. I aim to address how our modern eagerness to speak, often fueled by social media and digital distractions, has led to a decline in true listening and this decline is contributing to greater divisiveness in our society. I believe it's time to bring the focus back to understanding and empathy. Throughout this episode, I'll explore the barriers that prevent us from listening effectively, from the constant buzz of technology to our own internal urge to respond rather than to understand. We'll look at how this not only affects our personal relationships but also widens societal divides. But it's not just about identifying the problem; I'll also share practical, actionable strategies to help us all become better listeners. From embracing mindfulness in our daily interactions to learning the value of patience and thoughtful engagement, I'll guide you through techniques that can transform the way we communicate. I hope you enjoy!
