03 SPM009 Beloved California Temple
from SPIRITMUSE PRESENTS · host SPIRITMUSE RECORDS
This is ‘Beloved California Temple’ - out today, an ecstatic spiritual jazz excursion and the 2nd offering from Surya Botofasina’s incredible album Everyone’s Children. Here, Botofasina’s hypnotic piano motifs and Carlos Niño’s expressive percussion is joined by breathy saxophone lines from Pablo Calogero, before Dwight Trible’s dramatic wordless vocals bring things to a rapturous climax to the accompaniment of Efa Etoroma Jr.’s crashing drum crescendos, with the harmonic brilliance of Nate Mercereau’s guitar synth fortifying the whole performance. The song is as an ode to the Swamini Turiyasangitananda Alice Coltrane's Sai Anantam Ashram in the Malibu Mountains outside of Los Angeles, in which Surya grew up. Surya Botofasina explains: "I can still hear the sounds of Swamini's organ, along with the water flowing through the property. The Ashram to me is the main reason why I have any redeemable qualities throughout my life. I learned all of my values there. More importantly I learned what introspection feels like. I learned what meditation does for the body, and how to wait for an answer from the Divine. Every time I reach a place of music that may connect with other human beings on the planet . . . It is only because I have watched Her connect with beings both visible and invisible to common eyesight, effortlessly." >> Listen https://suryabotofasina.bandcamp.com/ >> Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DcPpdnedI0 l i n k s i n b i o ✨ Beloved California Temple Surya Botofasina - Piano Carlos Niño - Percussion Dwight Trible - Voice Pablo Calogero - Saxophone Nate Mercereau - Guitar Synth Efa Etoroma Jr. - Drums Music by Surya Botofasina and Carlos Niño Additional Recording by Nate Mercereau Mixed by Carlos Niño and Nate Mercereau Produced by Carlos Niño Recorded by Jesse Peterson Mastered by Frank Merritt at The Carvery Incredible Videography by Azul Niño Photographs by Grace Oh, Caleb Alexander Vinson, Rosin Hem, Padma Jones Album Design and Art Direction by Nep Sidhu SPIRITMUSE RECORDS MUSIC FOR THE SPIRIT
