077 Creative Perspective with Charlie Calder-Potts

With her love for travel, history and art, Charlie Calder-Potts has bent her practice around her passions. Combining travelling and painting, in 2014 she was commissioned by the British Army becoming the youngest ever female Official War Artist at 28. Sharing her experiences of being an artist based in Camp Bastion, Helmand Province in Afghanistan and also training as a Russian Icon artist, Charlie believes that it is possible to follow your passion. In 2017, she was sponsored by the British Arts Council to collaborate with Persian poet Rosa Jamali in Iran. Other notable projects and private commissions have taken her to Iraq (2015), Tajikistan, Syria and Russia (2018).
