09 - Why I Do Mediumship, Reflections on this Podcast and the Stereotypes Surrounding Mediumship

Why I do mediumship: It was not my intention to start doing mediumship Mediumship has saved my life, given me life, and given me my life back It’s helped me become more comfortable with the dark places in my life It has helped me more than any therapy I’ve done but I don’t discount the benefit of therapy I used to feel like I was walking around in a fog before, due to my trauma Helped me identify triggers with my own PTSD and anxiety I realized a bit of healing I could give other people To see the tiniest bit of healing is a way for me to give back a bit of what I have received Podcast things that came up around it: It’s taken me six years to stand in my own power and do this I’m not trying to convert anyone, I’m doing this for me Fear of potential criticism-people thinking I’m crazy Healing my own issues around being seen and heard All the negative things I thought would happen by putting this out, haven’t Stereotypes of mediumship: Mediumship is ripe with stereotypes American culture has many accepted religions but mediumship is considered ‘weird’ Our culture tells us what’s accepted In other cultures, talking to spirits is ‘normal’ Cultural acceptance and being gay - culture defines what is ok It takes people time to come around to acceptance, if they do The role that fear plays in others acceptance of mediumship If you're interested in learning more or booking a reading with me you can go to jencostamedium.com.
