    31 - You Already Know—Now Trust It

In this episode, I talk about what it actually looks like to trust yourself—whether that’s your intuition, your connection with spirit, or just your own inner knowing in everyday life. One of the most common questions I hear from people starting out in mediumship is: How do I know if what I’m getting is real or accurate? I break that down and share my honest experience with it. I also walk through the small and big moments that helped me build trust over time—and give you a few practical ways to start building that trust for yourself. I also walk through a simple way you can try this practice yourself. If you're interested in learning more or booking a reading with me you can go to jencostamedium.com. Follow me on Instagram

23 - Intuitive Kids: Then & Now with Bri Millar

Today my guest is Bri Millar, who also goes by Daylight Oracle. Bri is a psychic medium and intuitive guide. Growing up she was a very psychic and empathic child but it wasn’t until a life altering car accident that she became dedicated to working with her abilities. Ultimately having to leave a successful career as a teacher, she was able to find healing & magic through Mediumship and other modalities such as Reiki & Angel connections.  We discuss: Being an empathic child and growing up with religious parents Having multiple spiritual awakenings throughout life from grade 2 to now Bri’s experience as a teacher working with deaf, blind and/or autistic children and looking back how her intuitiveness, empathicness and psychic abilities helped her Being bullied from grade 3-11 and the role her empathic abilities played in her experience How being friends with the ‘outcasts’ in high school carried over to who she likes to work with/help today We also touch upon advice for parents on how to help and support an empathic child: When presented with something different we can find that very challenging. Respond with Curiosity. Encourage parents to learn about intuitive abilities OR find the child someone to talk to. When they share their experiences with you, believe your child OR believe that is the experience they are having. 21 - Shifting Traditions: A Reflective Journey Beyond Thanksgiving

In this episode, I reflect on why I've transitioned from celebrating Thanksgiving to observing a day of mourning. I delve into my personal journey, childhood experiences, and the transformative moments that led to this shift in perspective.    I acknowledge that I’m still learning and growing in this area, and as a white woman I still have a lot to learn. In this episode, I did my best to share my understanding of these atrocities and how they have shifted my perspective. But I am a work in progress and I am continuing to learn and grow in these areas. And I don’t have all the answers. I also want to acknowledge that when I say the word ‘Indian’ in this episode I’m using the terminology that was historically used during my childhood, but indigenous people have many ways of identifying and when possible it’s best to use community based terminology.   Links mentioned in episode: PODCAST:  This Land: Season 2 SHOP INDIGENOUS:  8th Generation: Inspired Natives®, not "Native-inspired." In this episode, I explore why kids often exhibit a natural sensitivity to the metaphysical world and how, as parents, we can navigate and support these unique encounters. Join me as I share personal stories, practical tips, and insights to help you understand and assist your child on their intuitive journey. Whether you're a parent seeking guidance or a curious young listener, this episode is an exploration into the world of psychic/intuitive sensitivity in children. In this episode I address the following: Why are children so open to the "woo" when they're younger? Conditioning by Society: Children, especially in North America, are naturally open before societal conditioning takes hold. The unfiltered connection they feel is considered normal until influenced otherwise.  Varying Degrees: Not every child will experience intuitive moments, and those who do may vary in their degree of sensitivity My Daughter's Journey: Early Signs: As a baby, my daughter displayed sensitivity, crying when other babies cried. 16 - Healing August: Navigating Change, Rejuvenation, and Self-Care

In this episode I get real about the rollercoaster that was this month. To put it bluntly I feel like this past month has kicked me in the face after going through some big changes, and personal losses. I decided something had to change so I could get back to regular so I’ve coined this month “Healing August.” I haven’t felt this emotionally and physically depleted in a long, long time on my mediumship journey. So I decided for the month, I was going to do one thing every day just for me. I discuss what I did to try and get myself back to level. Episode Highlights: We don’t often take care of ourselves the way we need to. Some things I do: Curate my social media to only follow people that bring me value, positiveness, happiness. Put yourself in the position to receive magic. The moon cycles may affect your mood or otherwise. Keep an eye around new and full moon times. Take a break when you need to heal, and rest. Take the time for yourself. Practice just being. I will be doing a live Q&A on mediumship and all things woo at the end of September. Stay tuned for details! 15 - Embracing Life’s Fragility: Reflections on Grief, Kindness, and Spiritual Awareness

This week, I address two significant personal losses that my partner and I have experienced. We were confronted with the heartbreaking news of my partner's miscarriage, as well as the sudden and unexpected passing of her best friend. Needless to say, it has been an incredibly challenging and emotionally draining week for both of us. Throughout this period of grief and reflection, I have come to contemplate several important aspects. Firstly, I have reflected on the concept of holding space for someone who is grieving. These devastating events have prompted us to reevaluate our lives and reassess our priorities. They have served as a stark reminder that life is fragile and unpredictable, urging us to focus on what truly matters. In the face of tragedy, kindness takes on a heightened significance. It becomes evident that small acts of compassion can have a profound impact on those who are suffering. I have also experienced some peculiar and surprisingly meaningful occurrences surrounding these two major life events. After reflecting on these experiences, I have a few key takeaways. First and foremost, it is crucial to live life to the fullest in the present moment. Expressing love and appreciation to our loved ones and friends should be a constant practice. Don’t postpone plans or even simple activities like going for a walk, as time is precious and unpredictable. Lastly, spirit is always communicating with us. Spirit is always communicating with us, but are we listening? With openness and receptivity, we may discover wisdom and guidance in the signs and synchronicities that surround us. These personal losses have left an indelible mark on our lives, urging us to approach life with a renewed perspective. By embracing the lessons we have learned, we can navigate the complexities of grief and honor the memories of those we have lost. I wish you to be inspired to live each day with intention, love, and a deep appreciation for the connections we share with others. 14 - Trust and Surrender: Finding Direction Beyond Corporate Life

This week, I want to talk about how I've been feeling since I left my corporate job. It's like I'm stuck in this place of uncertainty and waiting, and I'm trying my best to figure things out. I tell a story that kept popping into my mind this week reminding me to let go and trust the process. So, I'm trying to embrace this feeling of surrender and lean into trust as I navigate through this time of change. 13 - How I Quit My Corporate Job: Breaking Free and Embracing Life

In this episode, I discuss the reality of leaving my corporate job just last week. What started as a great experience for two years quickly turned toxic, and I discuss the challenges I faced during this abrupt shift. During this time, I found unwavering support from spirit, as signs and messages continued to guide me forward. Additionally, I leaned on the strength of my spiritual community (The Spirit School Collective) and the support of my family to navigate through it all. A particularly helpful aspect of this journey was a Clarity Session I had with my friend Bri. In the midst of overwhelming stress, this session proved invaluable in providing much-needed guidance. However, I also emphasize that not everyone should follow my path and up and quit their jobs without careful consideration. I also discuss feeling guilty leaving without notice. As I was meditating the other day, I was writing and spirit gave me a powerful quote: "Experience life from the perspective of possibility." I thought it was the perfect quote as I head into this new journey ahead of me. Just before the pandemic started and the world shut down, I went on a trip to Egypt, but not just any trip…it was sacred travel. I had no idea what sacred travel actually was and thought I would just be touring Egypt with some meditations thrown in there. I couldn’t have been any more wrong. This incredible journey was lead by Medium Lauren Rainbow and turned out to be the experience of a lifetime for me. I also experienced one of the most profound moments of my life there with the statue of Sekhmet. If you’re into sacred travel or just curious give this episode a listen. 11 - Connecting the Dots and Asking for Magic

It’s always easier to connect the dots looking backwards rather than forwards. Trust me, I’ve tried. Being where you’re at in life can sometimes be hard especially if you feel you’re at a crossroads like I do now. Working in a corporate career but wanting to do spiritual work / mediumship full time instead is a tough place to be and I’m ready for a change yet I still have to navigate where I am currently. In this episode, I show you how I asked spirit for magic, and how it showed up when I needed it the most. I also discuss how spirits’ plan always blows ours out of the water and how it’s about the journey not the end destination. 09 - Why I Do Mediumship, Reflections on this Podcast and the Stereotypes Surrounding Mediumship

On this weeks episode I talk about three things: why I do mediumship, reflections that came up around the launch and reception of my podcast, and the stereotypes about mediumship. Check out the notes below for a more depth look but as always, I hope you enjoy and thanks for listening. Why I do mediumship: It was not my intention to start doing mediumship Mediumship has saved my life, given me life, and given me my life back It’s helped me become more comfortable with the dark places in my life It has helped me more than any therapy I’ve done but I don’t discount the benefit of therapy I used to feel like I was walking around in a fog before, due to my trauma Helped me identify triggers with my own PTSD and anxiety I realized a bit of healing I could give other people To see the tiniest bit of healing is a way for me to give back a bit of what I have received Podcast things that came up around it: It’s taken me six years to stand in my own power and do this I’m not trying to convert anyone, I’m doing this for me Fear of potential criticism-people thinking I’m crazy Healing my own issues around being seen and heard All the negative things I thought would happen by putting this out, haven’t Stereotypes of mediumship: Mediumship is ripe with stereotypes American culture has many accepted religions but mediumship is considered ‘weird’ Our culture tells us what’s accepted In other cultures, talking to spirits is ‘normal’ Cultural acceptance and being gay - culture defines what is ok It takes people time to come around to acceptance, if they do The role that fear plays in others acceptance of mediumship If you're interested in learning more or booking a reading with me you can go to jencostamedium.com. 08 - Retreat Reflections: The Sacred Spirit Retreat

I just came back from attending the Sacred Spirit Retreat in Canada hosted by Danielle Searancke, also known as the Squamish Medium. I was talking to someone who asked me how it was and I found it hard to explain in words. Realizing that retreats or sacred travel can be a unique experience for everyone I thought I would give you a glimpse into what it was like for me. I’ll be covering a range of topics including my experiences and breakthrough with clairsentience, dealing with social anxiety in large groups, feeling energy in large groups, meeting familiar people who feel like a soul family, and integrating back into everyday life after a retreat. In particular, I’ll be discussing the emotional rollercoaster that comes with processing such an experience called integration. From feeling confused and shedding tears, to being super chill or having twitchy eyelids, it was all part of my journey. Post retreat I felt it hard to be present in the real world, and have been super distracted at work. I’ve also realized that I should not make a big decisions. It's normal to need time to process everything and as time went on I had more realizations about my experience, specifically about being seen. I joke and say this retreat broke me but it was one of the more profound experiences on my healing journey. And I can’t wait to do it again. 07 - Embracing Humanity and Spirituality: Navigating Both Worlds

In this episode I share my personal struggle with embracing my humanity, experiencing spirituality, and how it can be challenging to navigate both worlds. As we evolve and change we may wonder if we are still the same person, but for it me it always comes back to, “I’m still me.” Healing is hard, change is hard, and this journey can often be challenging but it’s worth it. If you’re facing challenges on your own journey, here are some insights, experiences, and advice that might help: Life is a journey not a sprint You may not feel like you are changing, but take a moment to reflect on where you were just six months ago It’s normal to feel overwhelmed at times, but remember that you’re not alone When I’m in turmoil I have to make the time to sit in the power Stay connected to spirt however that looks for you Listen to the internal prompts and urgencies that you get daily Make space for you to do what you love, whatever that may be Keep and open mind and heart If you're interested in learning more or booking a reading with me you can go to jencostamedium.com. 06 - My Journey with Spiritual Teachers

Finding the right teachers on your spiritual journey can be challenging but with discernment you can find a good fit. Personally, I was fortunate to have an amazing mediumship development teacher from the start. I was definitely guided to my first teacher by spirit. I resonated with her authentic and genuine qualities; she was a straight shooter, no BS, shared her experiences humbly and taught from her own personal experience. However, everyone’s journey is unique, and not every teacher will be the right fit for you. In this episode I discuss my experiences and some things to keep in mind when searching for the right teacher and group: My experience trying a new mediumship teacher (who I ended up not resonating with) Trusting your intuition when selecting a teacher or group to learn from Just because someone is recommended doesn’t mean they’ll resonate with you If a teacher or group doesn’t feel right, trust yourself and look for something that does Even the most well-known mediums may not be the right fit for you Pay attention to how a teacher handles challenging people or situations in the group Get to know the people in the development circle, not just the teacher. A good group with feel connected, supportive, and bonded, even of everyone is different. Be aware of not resonating with group members. Don’t be afraid to leave a group if it doesn’t feel right for you. Remember that your spiritual development journey is unique to you, so find a group that fits you-it’s YOUR development journey If you're interested in learning more or booking a reading with me you can go to jencostamedium.com. 05 - Signs and Symbols: Navigating the Spiritual Journey

TW: The following episode has a brief mention of suicide (6:25-7:35). Please take care when listening. If you’re having suicidal thoughts or need someone to talk to, please call the National Suicide Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988. In this episode I’ll be sharing my personal experiences with signs on my spiritual journey as a medium. Additionally I’ll talk about some topics related to signs: Why hawks have been such an important sign for me and continue to be Needing a signier sign (how many signs is enough to make us believe) How others have experienced my sign with me differentiating between a “hello” from your spirit guides and a confirmation of your thoughts How signs have brought me comfort and made me feel I’m connected to something greater How I receive signs through songs The fine line between asking for a sign and becoming obsessed with asking for them Tips for asking for a sign - being specific is key How signs can help build trust with yourself and your team If you're interested in learning more or booking a reading with me you can go to jencostamedium.com. In this episode I talk about coming out as woo. I realized there were a lot of correlations between coming out as gay and coming out as a medium. I’ll talk briefly about my coming out story, and my experiences coming out as a medium to family, friends and my partner. This episode also touches upon: The weight and meaning that words carry How people had different opinions when I came out as woo-some positive, some negative, some neutral How my fear was really anticipation of what others responses would be How my self acceptance grows over time How being true and authentic to yourself is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and others When you can show up and be you there’s nothing better than that If you're interested in learning more or booking a reading with me you can go to jencostamedium.com. 03 - Confronting Fear: My Personal Journey

Recording this episode brought to the surface my own struggles with fear. I was fearful of being heard, and exposing myself to the opinions and potential criticism of others. Fear for me, fear comes from a place of internalized past trauma that I’ve carried throughout my life. Unfortunately fear and anxiety often go hand in hand. Lucky me, I have them both. When you feel fear, you often feel it in a certain place in your body. For me it tends to manifest as a tightness in my chest. I’ve learned that the best way to overcome fear is to face it head on and do the thing that scares me. It’s not always easy but I’ve found that once I push through the fear, I enter a state of flow, where I lose track of time. This journey is a long one, but I challenge you to confront your own fears. When you do, tell someone and celebrate! NOTE: (I initially considered outsourcing this episode out to be edited but I pushed past my fear and did it myself.) 02 - From Skeptic to Believer: How I Started as a Psychic Medium

On the road to becoming a psychic medium there’s sometimes a triggering event that peaks our curiosity, and mine came from starting to meditate. Meditation opened the door to me to seeing an apparition…three times. So of course the next thing I did was google “psychic medium” to figure out what the heck was going on. (Who else are you supposed to call?) Needless to say after meeting with a medium it was a lot to digest and I was mindblown. Thankfully, I found myself in a development circle which gave me confidence, clarity, humbling experiences and a place to explore it all.
