1 Corinthians 15:1–20- The Glorious Resurrection

The resurrection of Jesus Christ stands at the very heart of the Gospel. In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul declares and defines the Gospel as Christ's death for our sins, His burial, and His bodily resurrection—entirely the work of Christ and not of human merit. He then defends the resurrection through fulfilled Scripture and the testimony of numerous eyewitnesses, including Peter, the apostles, more than 500 brethren, James, and Paul himself. The sermon also highlights how God's grace transformed Paul from a persecutor into a preacher and empowered his abundant labour for Christ. Finally, Paul exposes the devastating consequences if Christ had not risen before triumphantly affirming: “But now is Christ risen from the dead” (1 Corinthians 15:20).
