    Bread from Heaven (Exodus 16:1-15)

In Exodus 16 they are tested with lack of food and in chapter 17, lack of water. God's provision in both events would become beautiful types of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the only one who can satisfy the hungering and thirsting of our souls. In this message we consider how the Manna typifies Christ as the Bread of Life. There is also a sobering warning in this chapter concerning the sin of complaining.

  2. 89

The Miracle at Marah (Exodus 15:22-27)

Israel faces another test in this section of Exodus. The key to understanding this passage is found in verse 25 – "and there he proved them". One of the major purposes of God in the wilderness journeyings was to test His people. So, there is much to be learned about trials and testings in the walk of faith from this passage. The word 'Marah' means "bitterness" so we can also learn something about bitter experiences in the Christian life and how to overcome them by God's grace.

  3. 88

The Song of the Redeemed (Exodus 15:1-21)

After the Divine intervention at the Red Sea, Moses and Israel sung a glorious hymn of praise to God for His deliverance. There is much to be learned about true, God honoring praise from this song of Moses.

The children of Israel found themselves in such a place at the Red Sea and yet it would provide an occasion for one of the most powerful demonstrations of the power of God in biblical history. Viewing God's gracious dealings with the children of Israel at the Red Sea will encourage and undergird us with helpful principles that we can apply to our own trials and tests.
