‘Jesus is able to save completely, those who come to God through him’ Hebrews 7.25 This is our king, and yet when fears grow or trouble comes our way, Jesus is often the last one we turn to! We try all sorts of strategies - self-sufficiency, attempting to control the situation, some sort of coping mechanism, some distraction, some escape. But, how slow we are to go to the king who can save us! 1 Samuel 11 is a picture of God’s people questioning whether their king can save them. It is a picture of a people trying everything but going to the king. There is much challenge for us here. But also the much encouragement as we see our king’s relentless plan to save us despite ourselves!
