But this is how the Bible defines foolishness: ‘The fool says in his heart, there is no God.’ (Psalm 14:1) And that’s not just an intellectual thing - you can believe God exists in your mind… but at the same time say in your heart there is no God - in your consciousness, in your desires and anxieties and ups and downs. Regardless of what seems like common sense, foolishness is living without reference to God. And that’s what we’re going to think about this week in 1 Samuel 13.
