104. Trish and Tiffany from Hip Hop Happy Hour (Breast Cancer Survivors)

On today’s episode, I am speaking with Trish and Tiffany from Hip Hop Happy Hour. Trish and Tiffany are breast cancer survivors who are passionate about cancer survivorship and advocacy. During the pandemic, they started going live on Instagram to play music and talk about cancer, pop culture, world events. It was a place where you could have cancer or a chronic illness but it wasn’t what defined you. This quickly became known as Hip Hop Happy Hour and it has grown immensely in the last few years. Today, Trish and Tiffany share their individual experiences with breast cancer. We talk about their advocacy movement titled “Reclaim October” where they fundraise for grassroots breast cancer organizations, creating space to talk about themes that matter to breast cancer survivors and fighting against the pink ribbon as a marketing ploy. We talk about survivorship, how we can make it better and what’s next for them.
