104: Why You Must Manage Your Mind

from Too Human with Nurse Nell · host Danelle

You have a victim living inside of you that is helpless and scared. AND you have a persecutor living inside of you THAT JUDGES THE VICTIM for being helpless and scared. Every victim deeply WANTS a rescuer -- someone to just be like “I GOT U” or - “I’m going to save you from this!!” Well....what you inner victim is getting is a persecutor. The victim says, “I’m scared!” The persecutor says, “you shut your mouth, u lil butthole” The victim says: “but I’m scared!” The persecutor says, “scared of what dummy? You're so sensitive." This isn’t a problem, its actually very common and normal. But as long as the persecutor inside of you is persecuting the victim, this cycle will continue. Your mind tells you stories about not being in control of this dynamic. BUT THAT'S STILL THE VICTIM TALKING. And as long as any one of these characters has the reins, this cycle continues – the DRAMA continues. The point is, if any part of you is unconsciously or consciously taking on these roles WITHOUT the other parts (observer, assertive, nurturer), this cycle is literally endless So YOUR JOB is to amplify your inner observer, assertive one, and nurturer. Let's get to WORK // PLAY and break this pattern. L!nk below to book a connection call wit me: https://danelle-gallo.mykajabi.com/Schedule Q&A about the connection call/consult: 𝐐: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭? A: It's 60 minutes long. 𝐐: 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠? A: Nope, the consult is free 𝐐: 𝐈𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭? A: It's a zoom call where we both have our videos on. This is so I can see your body language/non-verbal communication. If you'd like do a call without video, we can do that, too. 𝐐: 𝐈 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐰𝐤𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥. A: This is totally understandable. I TRULY GET IT. The great thing is...you don't actually have to know what to say or what to talk about. I literally guide you through every step of the way. You get to sit back, relax, and answer my questions. You can literally answer the questions however you want to - there are no wrong answers. I promise I got u. 𝐐: 𝐃𝐨 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐚 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮? A: This is a good question. No, you do not have to identify with having trauma to work with me. My view is: life is full of obstacles and trauma is NOT what happened, it's how your nervous system responds to certain unpleasant circumstances. We probably all some type of trauma because we are humans on Earth with nervous systems, but you don't have to identify with having trauma. It's absolutely not required to work with me.When I think of trauma, I think of the things that trigger us - the things that make us feel very uncomfortable, we avoid thinking about, etc. Those things are related in some way to your body keeping the score. Trauma does not have to be some big life event. It can also be a series of small things that degrade your sense of confidence, purpose, clarity, connection, etc. Being "trauma informed" means I have been trained in nervous system regulation, mind/body connection, and know how to navigate topics that bring up subtle or blatant fight, flight, freeze, fawn responses and alllllll the nuances that go along with these stress responses.
