107 Plan to Retire with Claire Yew

Working hard, climbing up the corporate ladder, a casual conversation one day with her partner at the time instigated Claire Yew's pursuit of her WHY. He told her that he was planning to retire at the age of 45. This prompted Claire to question her own retirement plan for the first time in her life. At the age of 30, she started to actively search for a way to make her retirement possible using the concept of leverage. First, she invested in her own education, then she started to invest in property. KEY TAKEAWAY "I want to give them the opportunity to do anything, to pursue their own passions. They can learn whatever they want to and they can be whatever they want to in the future without having to think, Oh, is this job going to give me enough money?"   ABOUT CLAIRE YEW Claire Yew was born in Malaysia and graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and Masters of Business Administration (University of Strathclyde, Glasgow) in 2006. She worked as a small animal veterinarian in a hospital for 3 years then switched to Technical Sales in the Livestock industry where she was managing technical support and sales for a Livestock Feed Additive Supplier in the Far East Countries, covering Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, South Korea and Vietnam. Claire started investing in property in Kuala Lumpur between 2008-2010 and then relocated to the UK in 2010 because she met her partner now husband. Following property education courses, Claire has been investing in property in the UK since 2013 and has also done commercial conversions and development projects.
