108. Why healthcare workers need to be in leadership with Michael Kaufman

Dr. Michael Kaufman is a career special education expert who has recently published a book by Rowman & Littlefield titled "Doing Good & Doing Well: Inspiring Helping Professionals to Become Leaders in Their Organizations." In it, he shares lessons learned from his 30-year trajectory in the social services, starting as an in-the-field social worker and eventually advancing to three CEO positions—one for one of the largest networks of private day schools in the country, the next for a teletherapy startup, and now for his own special education management and consulting firm. His mission with his book is to champion his fellow helping professionals—all the educators, therapists, counselors, healers, health care workers, youth workers, rehab specialists, social workers, and social services personnel out there—encouraging them to discover and nurture the leader within and aspire to their highest leadership potential with the natural gifts and specific training that equip them for upper-management roles. Mike has a bachelor’s in business, a master’s in social work, a doctorate in clinical psychology, and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Key Executives Program.
