Actually, there are some people in Japan who think that being born between January and March is a disadvantage. Do you have such a concept like hayaumare in your country?【Today’s words】~ Why 早生まれ is said to be a disadvantage? ~Japanese school year starts in April.So, for example, kids born in April in 2023 and kids born in January ~ March in 2024are in the same grade.Kids born in April are almost one year older than kids born in January ~ March. So, especially when they’re little, it’s said that there is a gap of academic or physical ability between them. Some parents think that it’s a disadvantage.And because of the system in Japan, it’s said that it’s difficult for haya umare kids’ parents to find a nursery. These are the main reasons why 早生まれ is a disadvantage.
