Aan het begin van de 19e eeuw werd in heel Europa een nieuwe dans populair. Een beschamend sensuele dans. De kranten spraken er schande van: de wals. Wat was daar zo scandaleus aan? Opmerking: de muziek die te horen is bij het verhaal over het ontstaan van de wals is gewoon een hedendaagse Tiroler Wals.
