Mother Mary, directed by David Lowery and starring Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, and Jessica Brown Findlay, might have one of the most unhinged plots of the year. Despite the performances and chemistry between the cast, the film is weirdly compelling and endlessly entertaining. Meanwhile, The Sheep Detectives, starring Hugh Jackman and Emma Thompson, may not reinvent the murder-mystery wheel.
