    129 - The Odyssey (All the Nolan-isms)

This week we review perhaps the biggest film of the year (quite literally), The Odyssey (2026) directed by Christopher Nolan. We discuss how it compares to Homer's classic, what it gets right and where the adaptation leaves more to be desired. We also go over the sound and scale of this film, alongside a discussion on if that scale is accessible and who takes the responsibility for it. Lastly we talk about the performances. from an absolutely packed cast and how they each fit into the film. 🎬 Watch the trailer: The Odyssey | Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

128 - Driver's Ed & I Love Boosters (Fun and easy Vs. Fun and Bold)

In this week's episode, we take a break from the summer release and cover two films that went under the radar. Bobby Farrelly's Driver's Ed (2025) and Boots Riley's new film, I Love Boosters (2026). Discussing how Driver's Ed while cliched, is a fun watch with a fresh conclusion, and how I Love Boosters is a leftist satirical comedy that feels incredibly loud and bold.🎬 Watch the trailer: Driver's Ed | Official TrailerI Love Boosters | Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

127 - The Invite & Elona Holmes 3 (More than you expected)

For this episode, we talk about the new A24 film, The Invite (2026), directed by Olivia Wilde and starring Penelope Crux, Seth Rogen, Edward Norton and Olivia Wilde herself. Alongside Netflix's Elona Holmes 3, starring Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, and Helena Bonham Carter, amongst others. We discuss how both films offer much more than their trailers reveal and delve into those deeper themes at their core.🎬 Watch the trailer: The Invite| Official TrailerElona Holmes 3| Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

    126 - Supergirl (Immigrant Burnt-Out Daughter Core)

This week, we delve into the new DCU film, Supergirl (2026). Directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Milly Alcock, Eve Ridley and Jason Mamoa. We discuss how the film has strong themes of immigration, the personal political and perseverance but lacks the ability to see them through. How it ends up feeling like a superhero film that we are over already.🎬 Watch the trailer: Supergirl | Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

125 - Toy Story 5 & Voicemails for Isabelle (Anything New?)

In this episode, we discuss Pixar's latest sequel, Toy Story 5 (2026), and the new Netflix Rom-Com, Voicemails for Isabelle. Disclaimer: Zoey Duetch has faced a lot of backlash about her support for Israel, which we were not aware of prior to recording this episode.🎬 Watch the trailer: Toy Story 5| Official TrailerVoicemails For Isabelle| Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

124 - Masters of The Universe & Disclosure Day (A Blast from the Past)

This week we discuss, Masters of the Universe (2026), starring Nicholas Galitzine, Jared Leto, Idris Elba and Camila Mendes, alongside the new Sci-Fi film by Steven Spielberg, Disclosure Day (2026).Both films harken back to older media and entertaining spectacles that might not have as much depth.🎬 Watch the trailer: Masters of the Universe| Official TrailerDisclosure Day| Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

123 - Scary Movie & Maa Behen (Can we actually do better?)

In episode 123, we are discussing the new Scary Movie (2026) by the Wayans Brothers and Maa Behen starring Madhuri Dixit. Scary Movie is back 13 years later, and with horror doing so well in cinemas, it had a great opportunity that it really does not live up to. On the other hand, Maa Behen provides a refreshing comedy in a Bollywood that feels stale.🎬 Watch the trailer: Scary Movie| Official TrailerMaa Behen| Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

121 - Finding Emily & The Mandalorian and Grogu (Flawed Fun)

Two films which are fun to watch despite their flaws. The Mandalorian and Grogu, directed by Jon Favreau and Finding Emily, directed by Alicia MacDonald. With Finding Emily powered by Spike Fearn's performance and The Mandalorian and Grogu held through its puppetry and action sequences, both are competently made but do not offer much more.🎬 Watch the trailer: Finding Emily| Official TrailerThe Mandalorian and Grogu | Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

120 - Obsession & The Little Sister (Incredible performances by women for women)

In this episode, we discuss the new horror film by Curry Barker, Obsession and the Queer Palm winner from last year My Little Sister. Both films are centred around two fantastic performances by the female lead and are centred around female experiences (although on very different ends).🎬 Watch the trailer: Obsession| Official TrailerThe Little Sister | Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

119 - Mother Mary & The Sheep Detectives (Can't help but love them)

Mother Mary, directed by David Lowery and starring Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, and Jessica Brown Findlay, might have one of the most unhinged plots of the year. Despite the performances and chemistry between the cast, the film is weirdly compelling and endlessly entertaining. Meanwhile, The Sheep Detectives, starring Hugh Jackman and Emma Thompson, may not reinvent the murder-mystery wheel. Still, its cosy atmosphere and sharp execution make it impossible not to fall in love with it. 🎬 Watch the trailer: Mother Mary| Official TrailerThe Sheep Detectives | Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

118 - The Devil Wears Prada 2 (Can you continue a legacy?)

The Devil Wears Prada Returns! Starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Justin Theroux, and Lucy Liu, among so many others, the sequel builds on the original and expands this world 20 years on.  The characters do feel evolved, and so does the world of fashion. Despite its flaws, the film remains incredibly enjoyable and makes you want to go on a shopping spree desperately.🎬 Watch the trailer: The Devil Wears Prada 2 | Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

  13. 124

117 - Michael & Leaving Neverland (What is Jackson's Legacy?)

The new Michael Jackson Biopic, Michael, by Antoine Fuqua, feels like a by-the-numbers biopic. Starring Jackson's actual nephew, its greatest crime perhaps is to take such an incredible and interesting cultural figure and create something relatively mediocre from it. In contrast to the documentary about the allegations against him, Leaving Neverland feels incredibly dense and sometimes hard to keep up with, but it takes its 4-hour runtime to paint a detailed picture that stays with you long after you've stopped watching. 🎬 Watch the trailer: Michael | Official TrailerLeaving Neverland | Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

116 - Roomates & Lee Cronin's The Mummy (Evident where the effort went)

In this episode, we review Roommates, directed by Chandler Levack, and Lee Cronin's The Mummy, directed by...well Lee Cronin. We discuss how Roommates, while following the standard college comedy tropes, still manages to be fun and also how Adam Sandler keeps his friends employed. We also go over how The Mummy manages to feel like more of a vehicle to deliver gratuitous gore than a cohesive, well-told story.

  15. 122

115 - You, Me and Tuscany & Pizza Movie (Mediocre genre films matter)

This week, we talk about the new Rom-Com, You, Me & Tuscany, starring Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page, as well as Pizza Movie, a stoner comedy, starring Gaten Matarazzo and Sean Giambrone. We discuss why both films are good enough genre films and why that good enough is still needed.Timecodes:01:06 - Pizza Movie08:19 - You, Me & Tuscany🎬 Watch the trailer: Pizza Movie | Official TrailerYou, Me and Tuscany | Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast

In this episode, we review the new A24 film, The Drama. Directed by Kristoffer Borgli and starring Zendeya and Robert Pattinson, the film offers a look into trust, doubt and what makes a strong relationship. We discuss the shock twist(s) of the film and whether it actually is able to succeed in its ambitions.🎬 Watch the trailer: The Drama | Official Trailer📲 Follow & listen: linktr.ee/moviemasalapodcast
