119: TriTypes of the Enneagram-What are they and what role do they play in who you are?

from The Enneagram Edge with Host Tracy O’Malley · host Tracy O'Malley

Today’s episode will allow you to understand at an even deeper level why two of the same Enneagram types can be radically different from one another.⁣⁣That’s because while our core type doesn’t change, how it’s expressed does.⁣⁣Listen now⁣⁣⁣The TriTypes will help you understand more about yourself.⁣⁣You don’t hear about the TriTypes much because it will send you down a rabbit hole, but they’re important to help you understand why you resonate with or lean into different numbers.⁣⁣With the TriTypes, we end up having 27 different combinations.⁣⁣This is why there’s more to the Enneagram than just 9 types; it’s very complex and pretty amazing. In fact, I could talk for days and days about all the TriType combinations.⁣⁣Instead, I’m going to give you a simple introduction.⁣⁣Basically, each main type takes on multiple expressions; the three main expressions are found in the 1. gut or body center, 2. the heart center, and 3. the head center.⁣⁣We all use all three, but depending on our type, it’s harder for us to access certain centers.⁣⁣Our TriTypes don’t always reflect our growth or stress numbers—or even our wings. For example, I use my gut first, then my heart, and lastly my head. My tritypes would be the 8 (gut), then the 3 (heart), and lastly the 7 (head).⁣⁣Here’s how to identify yours...⁣Quotes:2:16 ⁣With the tritypes, we end up having 27 different Enneagram archetype combinations. ⁣⁣3:34⁣These three different types that make up your tri-type: 1 resides in the gut or body center of intelligence, 1 falls into the heart center of intelligence and 1 falls into the head center of intelligence. ⁣⁣4:27 ⁣The 4s, when they are in a growth pattern they go and take on a type in the gut triad and under stress they take on another one in the heart triad. ⁣⁣5:01 ⁣Our Enneagram tri-types don’t always reflect our growth or stress numbers or our wings. ⁣⁣9:00 ⁣The tri-type allows us to access all our center of intelligence. ⁣⁣14:17 ⁣It’s important to remember that you will always remain your dominant type. ⁣⁣15:45 ⁣As a 8, my core fear is that I will be betrayed or violated or that I will be put in a vulnerable situation, my core desire is to definitely be at peace. ⁣⁣16:58⁣The tri-types have an additional benefit that you don’t want to miss and that’s that they can help you discover your main enneagram type. ⁣⁣18:33⁣We all have a core motive and core desire and that is broken down into your main basic types.⁣⁣20:01 ⁣Really understanding the in’s and out’s of what motivates you, where you go when things aren’t going great, where you go when things are amazing, really helps me be the most supportive woman , friend, partner, coach, leader. ⁣
