Ray Goodwin joined me for this episode of Outdoor Instructor Chat. It was an absolute pleasure being able to chat with him. Ray is someone that is highly respected in the Outdoor Industry and for good reason. Amongst some of his many achievements are MIC, Level 5 Inland Kayak, Sea Kayak and Canoe. His canoe journeys include the first circumnavigation of Wales and the first unsupported canoe crossing of the Irish Sea. On top of all of this, in 2019 he was awarded an MBE for services in Canoeing.   Things that we discussed: Learning new skills, the psychological aspect of coaching, the problem with learning styles, How to deal with "What clients want to be coached in vs. What they need to be coached in?" Analysing yourself as a coach and the all-important Quickfire(ish) Questions.  There are some real gems of info in this chat, accompanied with lots of great little anecdotes.  A Massive thanks To Ray for taking the time to chat. Below are links to the things we discuss including Ray's website and Youtube channel, which I would urge you to take a look at.   00:00 Intro to Outdoor Instructor Chat with Ray Goodwin  15:40 Learning New Skills  27:11 Unseen Experiences and Lessons as a Coach  33:12 The Psychological Aspect of Coaching  42:18 How to approach - What the client wants coaching Vs.
