#136 What Taking the Edge Off Does & What to do Instead

from Happiness in Progress · host Danielle Craig

The year 2020 hasn't been a walk in the park for anyone. The last couple weeks have been overwhelming for Danielle Craig personally. On this episode, she talks about some stressful events that have added to this, including the death off her uncle. After days of trying to numb the emotions and "take the edge off," Danielle realized that was exactly what she was doing. She read from Brene Brown's book 'Dare to Lead' these words - "We can not selectively numb emotion - if we numb the dark, we numb the light. If we take the edge off pain and discomfort - we are taking the edge off joy, love and belonging." In this episode, Danielle shares the tools she started implementing to find comfort instead of numbing.
