#14 - The Most Common Question I Get Asked.

from Right Your Own Story · host James Taylor

In this episode of 'Right Your Own Story,' I go into the most common question I get asked as a hypnotherapist: Can anyone be hypnotised? The short answer is YES. I also explain how to prevent or stop this happening. When seeing a Hypnotherapist for therapeutic reasons, intentionally preventing yourself from going with the process can greatly impact on the success you are actually wanting to achieve. Hopefully, you can see how this is counter-intuitive. A part of you wants to be, do or achieve 'X', but another part of you is preventing this from happening. It is similar to trying to score a goal, but at the last minute aiming away from the goal itself, and then being disappointed that you didn't score.  It is a form of self-sabotage. There can be a few reasons for this (and some valid ones, too), but with a good Hypnotherapist, or in fact any therapist, you should be able to explore if this is the case for you, if it has happened in the past, why it may be happening again now (is it resistance or fear), how to resolve it internally, and then realign your aim intentionally. Here are two scenarios to explain what I mean: Scenario 1 - A person wants to lose weight, be healthier and feel more attractive.  If there is another part of them that does not want the attention this may bring from others, including possible sexual attraction, then there is an inner conflict or resistance. When this inner conflict is resolved, they can move forward, both consciously and unconsciously, and lose weight with ease. Scenario 2 - Let's suppose a person really wants to stop smoking.  If all their friends smoke, there may be an internal feeling of 'I may be viewed differently now', or 'I won't fit in anymore', or even 'I may be viewed as boring', so this inner conflict can start to feel like you are fighting against yourself, similar to an internal inner tug of war. Not only is this exhausting, it stops you from progressing. Like the first scenario, when this issue is resolved, YOU internally change gear, the transition takes place, and YOU then succeed, and you succeeding in your goals can only be a good thing, right?  My very best wishes, James ** Remember to subscribe to this channel (your button may say 'follow'), to be automatically notified when I release new episodes every Monday ** #rightyourownstory Right Your Own Story Ltd
