your own language in your mind, because that's the story you live every single day is what you tell yourself. When you face it and you realize that you are in your own way, then forgive yourself for that, apologize for yourself, or sorry I blocked you from achieving what you truly want, let's move forward together and let's figure out how we can do this together. This is your Badass Journey podcast. I am Terrine Walsh, serial entrepreneur, growth strategist, executive leadership coach and best-selling author.

Each week I will bring you a guest or a thought that will help you align what you love with what you do in order to build that bad-ass life and business you dream of. Happy New Year everyone. I just wanted to wish you the best in 2021 as I prepare for the year ahead. I thought you might be sitting in a bit of reflection today.

And so what I thought was I'd give you some of the questions that I go through and ask myself in order to make sure that I am standing in a lined action. And if you haven't yet done a retrospective on 2020, make sure you grab my retrospective worksheet that's on my site. Just go to karinewalsh.com slash retrospective to grab your copy and go through those prompts first before you start planning for 2021. And here's why.

A lot of the time we sit in the hope for what's the calm, what's next, I'll get to that. Or when I achieve X, I will do Y kind of energy. And when we do that, we are delaying what we truly desire to be right now. Who you choose to be is your own bad-ass journey.

Who you choose to interact with is part of that journey as well. The thing that we choose to this like, what's the right word? And the way we direct ourselves is based on a lot of different inputs that we've had not only from the past, but also what's around us right now. And sometimes you need to really get clear on who you want to be and who you need to surround yourself with in order to accomplish that every day.

What's the information intake that you have that aligns with that version of you? If you were sitting during 2020 in a space of the outside world dictating how you show up from the inside, then I would challenge you to start breaking that cycle right now to make sure that 2021 is a year of no excuses. Even if things are falling apart around us, it does not mean we need to be falling apart from the inside out. We have that control.

Now, I'm not saying don't have realistic reactions to whatever's going on in your world. I don't want you to ignore your truth. What I want you and what I'm trying to help you do is be aware of what information you're taking in about who you are meant to be. Is it dictated by the outside world in?

Or are you truly sitting with yourself and asking yourself the hard questions to really align your truth? What matters to you? The vision you see for yourself come to fruition. So when you think about what you'd want to accomplish this year in 2021, what I love about a new year, and honestly, I personally treat my birthday, which is an April as my true new year because that is my cycle here in life.

And when it comes to New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, I actually sit more in my business strategies than I do hyper focus on my personal goals. Although, as you know, you've been listening to me for a while. And if you're new to listening, welcome and thank you for joining us. It is all about integrating the two.

I am my business. My business is me. I am who I choose to be in every relationship. And so if I am not taking care of me first, the other things don't happen, right?

So I'm a holistic thinker and a holistic viewer when it comes to all these tips and tricks. So when I look at the list for 2021, it's always a holistic one. It's a matter of where do I want my health to be? Who do I need to be in order to lead the life that I'm designing for myself?

How do I want my relationship to represent daily in the love that I have for it? Who are the people I want to impact? How can I engage with them? What's up with my spiritual practice?

Is it deep enough? Am I feeling fulfilled? Am I making all the connections that really matter from that side? And I really do think about it holistically.

And of course, in this time being that it's now New Year's Day, you might have some reflections of your own coming up. But if you're sitting also in this energy of, oh shit, here's another day. What the hell do I do with this one? Then I would love for you to take these prompts and journal on them to really get clear for yourself in order to step into a no-excuse year.

So first, I want you to do the visualization exercise for yourself. What are your wishes for this year? What do you hope to accomplish, desire to accomplish, and just sit in visualizing what that looks like? So for me, for example, I realized that I am so over my wardrobe that like 2021 is going to be a serious upgrade.

And I'm going to stop being lazy about just putting on what's comfortable and really start being more intentional about the energy that what I put on my body makes me feel. So I started to visualize that version of me, that badass that has like, you know, I wanted like the, I guess the look is something more edgy. It's kind of like, biker chick meets the boardroom. I don't know why, but that's the image that comes up for me as the energy that I have.

I think like if you guys follow or check out Lisa Billu, like her look and energy, I'm not that petite. However, I have my version of that badassery that like, that is what's going to be my goal for 2021. So make sure you follow me on insta, because I'm sure I'm going to tap the shoulder of my stylist friends and help me create the look in a comfortable way. But also that makes me feel empowered, but I had to sit in that vision.

I had to sit and visualize what does that mean? And how am I feeling in my body wearing those items so that it feels like an empowering move? And I'm not using excuses, meaning something like, well, I'm not going to meet with anyone today. So why don't I just sit in my yoga pants all day long?

I'm actually doing it for me. And that is one of my wishes for 2021. So just to give you just an example, so you can go do that exploration for yourself. And then ask yourself after you do that visualization and spend time with it and journal on it and just keep journaling on it until you feel satisfied and can articulate that vision in a way that's easy.

So then you want to ask yourself, how are you going to make this happen when you remove all the outside excuses and just do it? So a lot of the times people can easily get stuck in visualization, but then don't know how to actualize it. Don't know how to bring it into the now. So simply ask yourself what's the excuse that's stopping you from achieving this vision?

And start journaling on all that, get it out of your system, because all it is is an energetic blocker for you to go and achieve what it is that you truly want. So write out all the excuses. You're the only one looking at this. I'm not asking you to show your homework with me, at least not yet, but truly get that out of your system.

Because when you enter a new year with excuses, that is what you will find. You will find the blockers, the lack of fulfillment, the desire for more, but the frustration that you can't have for some reason, you're creating that for yourself. So really identify the excuses and then ask yourself, if this excuse was removed, what would it look like? Who would I be?

How would I show up in it? Because when you face your own language in your mind, because that's the story you live every single day is what you tell yourself. When you face it and you realize that you are in your own way, then forgive yourself for that. Apologize for yourself.

Sorry, I blocked you from achieving what you truly want. Let's move forward together and let's figure out how we can do this together. And that is a really cool way to hyper focus on moving forward versus sitting in the things that hold you back. And it was very easy in 2020 to lose yourself by using the excuse of what was happening outside in the world.

Now that we live in a high level digital age of connection, as much as that might not be the primary way you'd like to connect, it still can easily become an excuse not to connect at all, because that format wasn't the one that you prefer. It doesn't let you up when you do it, etc, etc. Excuse excuses. You do it anyway.

You find a way to do it if it means something to you. If there are tasks in your life that don't fill you up, then of course those excuses are going to take precedence. So think bigger, think bigger and let go of those tasks that no longer fit so that you can spend your time in the things you truly want. And that's what leads us to alignment.

So what do you need to align what you truly desire with what you are doing daily? So imagine now what's all in front of you. If you've taken these time to do these journal prompts, really allow yourself to be open-minded, be opportunistic, really, really big, like think bigger than you ever thought before, remove any obstacle in your mind. You've removed all excuses.

You've identified what they are, and now you're sitting in your truth. You're sitting in that visualization of the life and the business and the person you plan to be. Now how do you step that into aligned action? What do you need to align what you truly desire with what you do daily?

Get your daily practices together. If you plan to be working from home and balancing your life, you need to get on a schedule that makes sure you're blocking time for the things that truly fill you up every single day. If it means getting up an hour early, if it means going to bed an hour later, whatever that looks like, block the time. If it means stopping TV binge watching, stopping Instagram scrolls, getting off the energy cycle that is not really aligning with where you want to be, take that time and replace it with the things that really help you inch towards what you truly desire.

That's how I plan to kick off this year, and you know I'm here to walk alongside you, and I would love to hear from you as you are on your journey. What do you choose to commit to for yourself? Pick one thing, one thing off that list, and focus on that for the month of January. And then report back to me and let me know at the end of the month how you did.

I want to hold you accountable for standing in your truly desired life regardless of what's happening outside. You are in control of your life. You are in control on how you lead your career. You are in control of how you lead your business.

You just have to choose to remove the excuses and step into what you truly desire for this year ahead. I want to wish you a happy new year. I hope you found this episode helpful. Please share it with those you love because I want to love on them as well.
