Here’s the thing, it’s not really the new year. Today is simply the day we reset our calendars and dive into a new planner. But in nature, this is Winter. Winter is a time of rest and renewal - the time for new beginnings doesn’t happen until March. By all means, make a resolution for the year, set goals in that fresh new planner and put important dates on your calendar. But DO NOT get your panties in a bunch and get down on yourself for not suddenly waking up a new person today. This is literally the worst time of the natural year to try to become something you aren’t. Here’s what I’m doing differently. I’m choosing an intention - something to aim for in the coming months, but I’m not holding myself to any unrealistic standards. I’m not going to feel bad if I fall short on my goals to get me there. I’m not going to let guilt make me quit on who I’m meant to be.
