154. The Multi-Hyphenate Wonder that is Kristin Hanggi

from Tend HER Wild Podcast

Today we are thrilled to have a special guest who we’ve been wanting to interview and literally dropped into the yoga studio while visiting Iowa City to direct a play.  Director, artist and healer Kristin Hanggi shares stories from her life and the powerful stories she is putting out into the world as a podcaster, author and director in touch with her feminine energy. Today we discuss: Kristin’s first 10 years and how her upbringing carried the shadow of her dad’s shame and also set the stage for her to embrace her creativity and curiosity as a storyteller in her adult life. The influence of her teacher mother as a believer in wonder and an example of being a powerful, playful spirit and warrior. The influence of Christianity in her Southern California upbringing and how she was directing productions with her friends and family from a very young age. How at UCLA she took two classes that informed her career: playwriting and the history of rock and roll. Her belief that as a woman she might not be able to be a director, and that today still only 11-14% of films are made by women. How the globe’s consciousness is fed by the stories of artists and the importance of stories being told by women and minorities. Her belief that stories choose us and how each story has it’s own medicine that heals the creative and the audience as well. How helping to direct the show Pussy Cat Dolls with numerous ultra feminine famous women, helped heal her feminine. Giving birth to “Let’s Play The C.R.E.A.T.E. Podcast” with partner Natalie and the fear of putting her voice and love of “woo” out there. Her co-creation of the Broadway shows Bare and Rock of Ages and their impact on her own heroine’s journey and definition of success. The story of her new one woman show “Accidentally Brave” on MAX that exemplifies the Heroine’s Journey. The play she is directing in Iowa City called “We’ll get Back to You” by former Pastor and Podcaster Rob Bell at the James Theatre.
