When he returned to music education, he brought those skills into the orchestra classroom.Since arriving at Gray’s Creek, Chuck has helped grow the program from approximately 40 students to more than 150. He began studying cello at age eight and performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, including concerts with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra at Eastman Theatre. He earned Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Performance from Ithaca College and pursued graduate studies at SUNY Potsdam.Chuck began his teaching career in New York before moving to Indiana in 2006, where he taught lower strings while maintaining an active performance career. Since relocating to North Carolina in 2018, he has built successful string programs and continued performing throughout the region.Chuck is currently Director of Orchestras at Gray’s Creek Middle School and High School. Under his leadership, the programs have grown from approximately 40 students to more than 150, with ensembles consistently earning Superior Ratings at NCMEA Music Performance Adjudication events. He was named the 2025 Teacher of the Year by the Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce.An active performer, Chuck regularly performs with orchestras throughout the Carolinas and maintains a thriving private studio.
