#156 with The Real Organic Project and Linley Dixon
from Meathead Hippie · host Emily Schromm
Linley Dixon owns a vegetable farm (marketing through a CSA, farm to school, and at farmers markets) in Durango, Colorado, with her husband Peter and daughter. She holds a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the University of Florida. In addition, she held a 2-year post-doctorate with the USDA’s Systematic Botany and Mycology Laboratory where she studied fungal plant pathogens from around the world. Her research involved studying the impact of farm biodiversity on plant disease levels, providing perspective on the various inputs required given different production practices. Linley serves as a Farmer representative and is Co-Director of the Real Organic Project. "The Real Organic Project is family farmer-driven and embraces centuries-old organic farming practices along with new scientific knowledge of ecological farming. We believe that crops grown in soil and livestock raised on pasture-based systems are fundamental to organic farming."
