Please listen to Part 1 first to understand the full story.Dr Constance Scharff grew up in a home where the trauma from her abusive father saw her turn to alcohol at age 11. Somehow she understood that alcohol would negate her need to feel anything. By the time she was in college, Constance was drinking two litres of hard liquor a day. She believed at this point she didn’t have long to live and friends said she would not make it through her twenties. As a small child, Constance was abandoned and uncared for.  She was lost in a family who did not protect her or keep her safe. She believed she drank because she was scared of her father, but when her father died, she realised she couldn’t stop.
