16: Mindful Performance and How to Unlock Your Potential with Jordie Karlinski

from WILD Wellness with Jenni Hulburt · host Jenni Hulburt

Imagine working towards a goal for years, but then missing the mark in the brief moments of competition. Is a setback really a set-up for a comeback? Aspen native Jordie Karlinski started snowboarding at age 7 and hasn’t stopped since. Jordie reached the professional level during high school where she made the podium at a hand full of international events throughout her career. She was named to the US Snowboard team twice, first for Boardercross from 2005-2006 and for Slopestyle from 2011-2014 where she went onto to be a top ranked international competitor and compete in the 2014 US Olympic qualifiers. Jordie has competed in the XGames, Dew Tours, Grand Prix’s, Burton Opens, World Cups and more. Experiencing first hand how hard the transition was from being a professional athlete to finding a new career and purposeful life post competition, Jordie became a certified leadership coach and has her own mindful performance coaching business. Jordie works with athletes, individuals, and organizations who are looking to unlock their potential, fulfill their deepest dreams and desires, and live a life that is worth leaping out of bed for. Her coaching approach is intentional and courageous so clients can access deep transformation, discover their inner power, and feel empowered to journey down a path that lights them up. Jordie knows that life is not easy and is filled with an incredible amount of hurdles, so that is why her coaching approach is also rooted in mindfulness. She offers reliable and useful mindful practices that will not only support clients in hard times, but also help them cultivate awareness that will help them discover their passions and purpose. In this episode we talk about: -How Jordie got started snowboarding, and her journey as an athlete through competition (2:49) -What she did when she found herself no longer progressing as quickly (8:41) -The moments that led up to one of the most defining moments in her career at the Olympic qualifying competition (11:47) -Mindfulness tools Jordie uses herself and shares with clients - how to practice visualization (17:57) -How to use mantras and positive affirmations, especially to overcome self-doubt and the "monkey mind" (19:20) -What Jordie is currently training for, and how she's practicing mindfulness (22:52) -How to follow your curiosity when you're burnout in order to move forward (26:17) and so much more...
