16. The Importance of Taking Messy Action

"CONCEAL DON'T FEEL DON'T LET THEM KNOOOOOOOOOW" - Elsa from Frozen As a life coach, healing entrepreneur....or none of those things and just a human in the world....taking messy action is, at least in my life, super super super important. Humans are not perfect, and you do not have to show up as the perfect, polished version of yourself in order to be loved and successful (although our brains try their absolute hardest to convince us of this). Taking messy action starts with allowing ourselves to feel the discomfort of emotions that are not so wonderful. We have been conditioned to numb out, distract, tune out, shove down, and resist hard emotions such as pain, grief, sadness, anxiety, etc., and yet...when those emotions are not felt and welcomed, they remain unprocessed, and store themselves somewhere deep in our bodies and turn into chronic pain, acute pain, illness, etc. I really think a key to life is to feel it all. To feel the pain and messiness and discomfort of being a human creates space to feel joy and love and freedom. We have to fail to succeed, and taking messy action is the way.
