As Jesus began performing miracles, His fame spread rapidly among both Jews and Gentiles. Large crowds followed Him, seeking healing from sickness and deliverance from demons. While these are good reasons, they sought Jesus only for their earthly needs. Sadly, they did not see Him as their Messiah, who could give them a far greater deliverance from sin and eternal judgment.Even today, there is a “popular” Christ who is sought only for material benefits. Each person must examine their heart: are they following Jesus for worldly comfort, or to truly know Him? Do they believe in the true gospel of Jesus Christ or in the popular prosperity gospel?
