It is Finished - John 19:16-30

When Jesus Christ uttered the words, "It is finished," it was not a cry of despair or defeat, but a thunderous proclamation of victory over sin and Satan. Jesus Christ lived to fulfill the law perfectly, and He died to pay a debt none of us could ever repay. Today, as we reflect on the death of our Lord, we are reminded that through His suffering, His blood, and His sacrifice, we are no longer bound by sin and the judgement it carries. We are redeemed. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on April 3rd 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    17. Christ’s Chosen Company: The Twelve - Mark 3:13-19

Jesus chose His disciples not because of their merit, status, or accomplishments but out of pure, unconditional love. Nothing they did earned His favour. He drew them close, walked among them, and gave them something no worldly treasure could match: His own presence. Beyond that fellowship, He entrusted them with a great commission, a purpose far greater than themselves. This sermon digs into the heart of that calling. Why did Jesus choose the men He did? What made them apostles? And by what standard does someone truly carry that title today? These are the questions this sermon sets out to answer. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on March 29, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    16. The Perils of a Popular Christ - Mark 3:7-12

As Jesus began performing miracles, His fame spread rapidly among both Jews and Gentiles. Large crowds followed Him, seeking healing from sickness and deliverance from demons. While these are good reasons, they sought Jesus only for their earthly needs. Sadly, they did not see Him as their Messiah, who could give them a far greater deliverance from sin and eternal judgment.Even today, there is a “popular” Christ who is sought only for material benefits. Each person must examine their heart: are they following Jesus for worldly comfort, or to truly know Him? Do they believe in the true gospel of Jesus Christ or in the popular prosperity gospel? This sermon explores the dangers of a “popular” Christ and how we can examine our hearts to see whether we follow Jesus Christ for who He truly is.This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on March 22, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    15. The Life of the Sabbath - Mark 3:1-6

Legalism can be a mark of a prideful person. This was very evident in the lives of the pharisees. Under the guise of piety, they distorted the truth of God's goodness and grace. This sermon focuses on the delusion of legalists and how their legalism brings forth death and suffering. The Nearness of God - Exodus 40

Sinful people cannot stand in the presence of a holy God. Yet God chose to dwell among His people through the tabernacle, giving the Israelites clear instructions on how to approach Him. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we now have access to God the Father, and our bodies have become the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. In this sermon, Rev Theodore Vijay explains the elements of the tabernacle and teaches how believers should respond to this privilege by approaching God with reverence and holy living. This sermon was preached by Rev Theodore Vijay on March 8 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

Children of the Covenant: A Holy Seed - 1 Corinthians 7:12-16

When God made a covenant with Abraham, He promised to be God not only to him but also to his children. God set Abraham’s children apart through the sign of circumcision. His covenant promises belong not only to Abraham but also, through faith, to the children of believing parents. They are a holy seed set apart for the Lord. Even if only one parent is a believer, their children belong to the Lord. Listen to this sermon as Pastor Christopher David explains how the children of believers are holy to the Lord and the charge given to parents. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on March 1, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai. Zion's Treasure - Isaiah 33:1-20

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,” says Scripture. It is a treasure for believers that reaps salvation. However, many believers misunderstand what this fear means. In this sermon, Rev. Poelman explains what it means to “fear the Lord" and what this fear does in a Christian's life. This sermon was preached by Rev Steven Poelman on February 22, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    14. The Lord of the Sabbath - Mark 2:23-28

The Lord commands His people to observe the sabbath day. A sacred time set apart for resting, worshiping, and glorifying Him. Sadly, to its great loss, the modern church seems to neglect and misunderstand this commandment. As you listen to this sermon, you will discover why the Lord calls us to observe the sabbath rest and how it's true meaning is found only in Jesus Christ, the Lord of the sabbath. 13. The Uncontainable Christ - Mark 2:18-22

The Christian faith is a joyous faith because believers have Christ with them. The presence of Jesus Christ in one's life brings tremendous joy as they feast upon the love of their bridegroom. However, the self-righteous Pharisees of this world lack joy as they try to contain the uncontainable grace of Christ within their old fabric of legalism. Join us as we meditate how on the uncontainable Christ through the words of St. Mark. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on February 8, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    12. Sinners Around the Table - Mark 2:13-17

Jesus is the friend of sinners. The heart of Christ seeks the lost and the wretched, and He brings them home through His tender love. However, He is a foe to the self-righteous and the prideful. You can either be friends with Jesus or be His foe; there is no middle ground. This sermon invites you to reflect on where you stand with Jesus. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on February 1, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    11. Forgiveness That Brings Healing - Mark 2:1-12

In this sermon, we witness the remarkable faith of the paralytic man and his friends as they seek healing from Jesus despite the challenges they face in bringing him to Him. Jesus acknowledges their faith and pronounces healing and freedom—not only from his physical ailment but also from his spiritual paralysis—which is an even more significant act of healing than the physical restoration. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on January 25, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

To Such Belongs the Kingdom of God - Luke 18:15-17

God grants His covenant promises not only to believers but also to their children. No one should hinder them from coming to God and receiving His covenant blessings. When the disciples of Jesus rebuked the parents who brought their children to be blessed by Him, they quickly learned that the Kingdom of God also belongs to children. In fact, it belongs only to those who receive it like a child. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on January 18, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    10. The Messiah and The Pariah - Mark 1:40-45

In ancient Israel, a leprous person was ostracized from society. Even family members avoided them, fearing infection. When such a person approached Jesus seeking healing, He did the unthinkable. Instead of withdrawing, He showed compassion and touched him, restoring him. Our sins are even more repulsive, yet Jesus shows us mercy and heals us by taking our place on the cross, the place of a leprous man. Such is the love of Christ for sinners. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on January 11, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    9. The Man of Prayer and Word - Mark 1:32-39

Jesus loved to pray. No matter how long and tiring his day was, he woke up early in the morning and prayed in a solitary place. A praying Master like Jesus cannot have prayerless servants. If Jesus Christ, though he himself was without weakness or sin, depended on God daily, how much more should we, as weak and sinful beings, depend on God through daily prayer? Through this sermon, we understand the significance of private prayer and public preaching. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on January 4, 2026, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

O Emmanuel | Advent Series on the 'O Antiphons'

In the seventh and final antiphon, we consider the title of Jesus Christ, O Emmanuel, meaning “God with us.” For us to truly appreciate what it means for God to be with us, we need to understand the distance between humanity and God, as his very nature sets him apart from us. However, God chooses to descend to earth through the person of Jesus Christ in order to save us from sin and dwell with us eternally. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on December 25, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Advent Series: O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (on the O Antiphons)The O Antiphons, an ancient church tradition, are a series of seven prayers addressed to Jesus Christ by the Messiah's Biblical titles, and sung in the season of Advent. O Rex Gentium | Advent series on the 'O Antiphons'

In the sixth antiphon, we address Jesus Christ by the title 'O Rex Gentium' or King of the Nations. Jesus, the maker of man, rules over all of mankind by virtue of creation. The hope of Israel that God is the king of the nations is fulfilled when Jesus is born as the child of Abraham to bring God’s blessing of salvation to the nations! To call Jesus the King of the Nations means that He is the Reward and Reconciler of all nations. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on December 21, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Advent Series: O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (on the O Antiphons)The O Antiphons, an ancient church tradition, are a series of seven prayers addressed to Jesus Christ by the Messiah's Biblical titles, and sung in the season of Advent. O Oriens | Advent series on the 'O Antiphons'

In the fifth antiphon, the church addresses Jesus Christ as O Oriens, which is translated into English in many ways such as Morning Star, Rising Sun, Radiant Dawn or Dayspring. Since the fall, mankind has always yearned for the true light of God to arise and dispel the darkness. The day of Christ brought the dawn of deliverance for people living in the darkness, and though the Light shines in the darkness, the full glory of the dayspring is not yet revealed to us! We in the church look forward to this glorious future much like Israel of old. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on December 14, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Advent Series: O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (on the O Antiphons)The O Antiphons, an ancient church tradition, are a series of seven prayers addressed to Jesus Christ by the Messiah's Biblical titles, and sung in the season of Advent. O Clavis David | Advent series on the 'O Antiphons'

In the fourth antiphon, we are introduced to Christ as the Key of David, referring to the authority, amnesty and assurance of the King. Jesus continues to assure us through the word of the Gospel that he who is the Key of David has opened wide for us the gate to heaven. In this sermon, we consider what this messianic title from the book of Isaiah means and how Jesus fulfils it, even today. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on December 7, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Advent Series: O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (on the O Antiphons)The O Antiphons, an ancient church tradition, are a series of seven prayers addressed to Jesus Christ by the Messiah's Biblical titles, and sung in the season of Advent. O Radix Jesse | Advent series on the 'O Antiphons'

The people of God had waited years for the tree of Jesse to be revived and replenished. After centuries of deadness, new life sprouts forth miraculously as God himself now comes to his people in the person of Jesus. But Jesus Christ is not only the shoot of Jesse but also the root (Radix) of Jesse, fulfilling what the prophet Isaiah said 700 years before. In this sermon, we see what this implies, and how we can be part of the tree of Jesse, producing fruit for the glory of God.This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on November 30, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Advent Series: O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (on the O Antiphons)The O Antiphons, an ancient church tradition, are a series of seven prayers addressed to Jesus Christ by the Messiah's Biblical titles, and sung in the season of Advent. O Sapientia | Advent series on the 'O Antiphons'

The search for wisdom (sapientia) spans the human experience across time because we are created to seek wisdom. In seeking after wisdom, mankind is seeking Him who is the source of all wisdom – the only wise God. However, since the fall, the children of Adam and Eve have embraced the foolish ways of sin and have sought wisdom apart from God. Christ alone is the fulfilment for the human yearning for wisdom. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on November 16, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Scripture Lessons: Proverbs 8:12-36; 1 Corinthians 1:18-31Advent Series: O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (on the O Antiphons)The O Antiphons, an ancient church tradition, are a series of seven prayers addressed to Jesus Christ, and sung in the season of Advent. 8. The Great Physician - Mark 1:29-31

All sicknesses of our body point to the reality that our hearts are sick, stained with sin. If the kingdom of God has broken through into this world, then Rabbi Jesus will not only deliver fallen humanity from the oppression of the evil One but also the suffering from sickness. Jesus Christ comes into this world to bring God’s healing into our diseased lives, for He is the great physician. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on November 9, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Series: The Servant King, on the Gospel of MarkIn a world that prizes power, prestige and self-promotion, the Gospel of Mark gives us a portrait of a King who kneels to serve, who rules through sacrifice and who conquers not by the steel of the sword but by his love. 7. Rabbi Jesus - Mark 1:21-28

In the first snapshot of the ministry of Jesus in the book of Mark, we see our Lord teaching at a synagogue at Capernaum on the Sabbath Day. Jesus spoke with authority from Himself for He is the Living Word. But the words of Jesus not only carried authority but also immense power to enforce His will, as his mere word was enough to rout a demon. In this sermon we see how the words of Jesus ought to shape and inform the church of its role even today. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on November 2, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Series: The Servant King, on the Gospel of MarkIn a world that prizes power, prestige and self-promotion, the Gospel of Mark gives us a portrait of a King who kneels to serve, who rules through sacrifice and who conquers not by the steel of the sword but by his love. Pens & Thumbs Mightier Than Swords & Stones - Select Verses from Proverbs

Words actually hurt us, more than the physical blows we receive in our lives. They tend to leave scars on our hearts. As we glean wisdom from the books of Proverbs and James in this sermon, Rev John Rakshith Prabhakar shares how we can engage them in three steps: Words matter, words scatter and words gather. This sermon was preached by Rev Prabhakar (Pastor of Redeemer Church, Bengaluru) on October 26, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

Household Baptism: The Practice of the Primitive Church - Acts 16:11-15, 25-34

Baptism testifies entirely of God’s grace and not our works. We read repeatedly in the New Testament that the practice of the primitive church was to baptise not only those who believed in Jesus, but also their households. This is because the Bible tells us that God's grace of salvation is not only for the individuals who believe but also to their families. In this sermon we see that God includes children by his grace in this covenant as he does adults. The God Who Delivers Us From Fear - Psalm 3

Psalm 3 deals with the emotion of fear; it helps us understand what to do when we are under threat or when we live in fear. The Psalm was written by King David when he was fleeing from his son, Absalom. Through this Psalm we learn that we worship a God who delivers us from the fear of threats, of uncertainty and of our vulnerability. This sermon was preached by Rev David Gnanadhas (New City Fellowship, Bengaluru) on October 5, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

Baptism Now Saves You - 1 Peter 3:18-22

What does the apostle Peter mean when he says "baptism now saves you"? For so many evangelicals today, such language can be disconcerting and disturbing as baptism is considered a mere sign of conversion. The Bible tells us that baptism is not just an empty sign of salvation, since God is at work in the sacraments. In this sermon, we see that in baptism, a Christian is saved from the waters of judgement, through the waters of grace and by the waters of cleansing. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on October 5, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    What is Love? - 1 Corinthians 13

More than a dictionary definition of love or the numerous examples of love that we see in our lives every day, God gives us a clear description of what love is in His word. 1 Corinthians 13 is one of the few passages in scriptures where the Christian ethics of love is clearly stated with no ambiguity. Ultimately, in Jesus, God gives us the perfect picture of love. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on September 14, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    4. In the Wilderness - Mark 1:12-13

The wilderness in scripture is a desolate place, a place of judgment. Yet we read that Jesus, the perfect Son of God, had to endure temptation in the wilderness, just like we do in our daily lives. The Spirit pilots Jesus into the wilderness so that he will be proven as the new Adam and the new Israel of God.In this sermon, we consider how the temptation of Jesus can aid in our Christian walk of sanctification. 28. Mercy Without Measure - Judges 21

The book of Judges began with a crisis of leadership, and it ends with a crisis of leadership. Israel reaches a stage where it needs saving from itself! Though the book ends on a dark note, we see that despite the deep depravity of God's people, He is merciful. God shows yet again that He is faithful to the faithless. In this sermon, Rev Christopher Poshin David explains how even in this tragic episode, the hope of the gospel is present. 27. The Cost of Justice - Judges 20

The tragic events of Judges 19 lead to a deadly civil war in Israel, which we read in chapter 20. Sadly, we see a section of the people of God defending rapists and murderers. When the Benjaminites protect the wicked men of Gibeah, the rest of Israel declares war to prosecute justice as demanded in God's law. God’s justice is severe and unrelenting and it will never excuse sin. In this sermon by Rev Christopher Poshin David, we are reminded that for us wretched sinners, the Father sends Jesus Christ to pay the high cost of justice. 26. Sodom 2.0 - Judges 19

The horrific events narrated in Judges 19 make it one of the most difficult chapters to read in all of Scripture. It reveals the depth of human depravity and what many women even today have to face in this dark world. Only in facing this unsettling and troubling truth can we begin to seek the remedy God offers in the revelation of his Son, Jesus Christ. The good news is that our Lord and Saviour is the king who solves this darkness. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on July 13, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai.Series: Unfailing Faithfulness to the Faithless, on the book of Judges. The book of Judges exposes the depths of human sinfulness and depravity, but also reveals the unfailing faithfulness of God to His faithless covenant people and His never ending love.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    25. The Tragedy of False Religion - Judges 18

In Judges 18, we read of the idolatrous tribe of Dan that rejects the promises of God and seeks rest elsewhere, in the process even ruining the lives of others. As Christians, we too are often driven by idolatrous pursuits and seek God outside His revealed word.In this sermon, Rev Christopher Poshin David shares that the antidote to an idolatrous heart is to submit to the one true King who will tear down our idols for us, freeing us to worship Him. The sermon was preached at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai, on July 6, 2025.Series: Unfailing Faithfulness to the Faithless, on the book of Judges. The book of Judges exposes the depths of human sinfulness and depravity, but also reveals the unfailing faithfulness of God to His faithless covenant people and His never ending love.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    24. Homemade Religion - Judges 17

The deterioration of the religious life of the Israelites in the time of the judges is made evident through the self-made and self-serving religion of a man named Micah. In our time, we witness this democratisation and pluralism of religion which seeks to please our senses, rather than offer worship that is acceptable to God. So, what is the right way to worship God?Rev Christopher Poshin David delves into the problem of worship that plagues modern Christianity in this sermon preached at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai, on June 29, 2025.Series: Unfailing Faithfulness to the Faithless, on the book of Judges. The book of Judges exposes the depths of human sinfulness and depravity, but also reveals the unfailing faithfulness of God to His faithless covenant people and His never ending love.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    23. Samson Pt. 4: The Strong Lover - Judges 16

By his sin, Samson had many times put himself in great danger, and every time the Lord saved him. However, after revealing his secret to Delilah, Samson was abandoned by the Lord. This judge of Israel sought to quench his unbridled sexual appetite, putting his life at risk. Yet his great sacrifice, at the climax of this story, reveals the sacrifice which the gospel requires. This sermon was preached by Rev Christopher Poshin David on June 8, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chennai, India.Series: Unfailing Faithfulness to the Faithless, on the book of Judges. The book of Judges exposes the depths of human sinfulness and depravity, but also reveals the unfailing faithfulness of God to His faithless covenant people and His never ending love.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    22. Samson Pt. 3: The Revenge of the Jaw-Bone Warrior - Judges 15

Though deeply flawed, Samson foreshadows Christ. Betrayed and rejected, he delivers Israel by God’s power—pointing to Jesus, who was also handed over, stood alone, and thirsted on the cross. Samson’s victory with a donkey’s jawbone and his cry for water mirror Christ’s triumph through the cross and His offer of living water. Through weakness, God brings salvation. This sermon was preached on June 15, 2025, by Rev. Christopher David at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Chennai, India.Series: Unfailing Faithfulness to the Faithless, on the book of Judges. The book of Judges exposes the depths of human sinfulness and depravity, but also reveals the unfailing faithfulness of God to His faithless covenant people and His never ending love.Visit our website www.trinitypresbyterianchennai.com and follow us on YouTube and Instagram for more resources!

    21. Samson Pt. 2: The Riddle of the Lion Slayer - Judges 13:25 - 14:20

Samson, the last of the Israelite judges, tells a beautiful riddle seeking to outwit the Philistines. But we soon learn that the real riddle is the very man who speaks the riddle. Because, how can a man of God, filled with the Spirit of God, sin so grievously and fall? Rev Christopher Poshin David considers the riddle of the Lion Slayer who, though flawed, is a picture of the perfect and sinless Christ.
