1689 Confession on Sanctification

Dr. Sean Cole continues the teaching series through the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession. He addresses Chapter 13 on Sanctification. The best way to understand the difference between justification and sanctification is to consider what the Reformers said: “Christ is FOR us”—that is justification. “Christ is IN us”—that is sanctification. We can think of sanctification in two categories: Positional: We are permanently set apart as holy in our salvation because God has regenerated us and given us the Holy Spirit to live inside of us. Progressive: While we cannot lose our salvation, we still struggle with sin. The Holy Spirit will progressively and continuously make us more holy and rid us of the pollution of sin in our lives. www.seancole.net
