169. Suicide, Depression + how To make life Worth Living

from I Said What I Said

Firstly, if you’re actively suicidal please call your country’s suicide hotline, they’re angels <3 The intention of this episode is to speak to folks who feel their life is not worth living anymore. I want to let you know that you aren’t alone and there is quite a bit to live for and these things have a low barrier to entry. I get into the literal specifics about 40min in. The first 40min are my thoughts on life and death, discussing why one might be suicidal, the different types of suicidality, and why I believe it is our moral imperative to live as colourful a life as possible. I have no moral position about whether suicide is “right” or “wrong”. I believe everyone has a right to choose to stay or go. I argue that it’s more rational to stay and explain why. If you’re struggling right now I am sending you the BIGGEST HUG. Life is tough, you are tougherThings discussed:There is no shame in being depressed or suicidalHow to find agency and purposeSelf-esteem affects your will to liveBoredom and ennui are deadlySelf assertion and hobbiesResources:The episode that the lovely DM’er listened to: Ep157the emotional scaleMerlin Zeitgeist - Best psychic ever!!!
