17. Celebrating Yourself

from YES MUJER BUILD IT · host Wendy Amara

Do you often struggle with celebrating yourself and sitting in recognition for what you've accomplished in life? Wendy explains how women of color, especially Latinas are taught to be quiet about their achievements rather than being loud and bold about it because we don’t want to come off as “creidas” or thinking too much of ourselves. The belief that we can’t do both has been ingrained in us - celebrating our achievements and remaining humble at the same time. She talks about the perspective in which you celebrate yourself because as Latinas we aren’t programmed to sit in recognition and celebrate ourselves - we don’t do that often.Wendy encourages us to think about 3 tangible results we’ve created in our lives. Once we have those thoughts, she explains the importance of celebrating each of these accomplishments in a way that shifts our brain neurons. By sitting in recognition of these accomplishments she explains that this builds our "celebration muscle." If left alone, Wendy says - our brain will go into “self beat up” mode rather than “self celebration” mode. This is why it is essential to build our celebration muscle, to counteract the amount of self beat up our brain offers us everyday.  In this episode you’ll learn: • How your brain will try to sabotage you to NOT celebrate yourself.  • Shifting into a new perspective of “I’m 100% responsible for what I create in my life, including all the great stuff.” • How self beat up can lead to feeling anxious, stressed and overwhelmed. • How to build your "Celebration muscle."• What happens in your brain when you celebrate.• The importance of CONSISTENTLY Celebrating.Connect with Wendy:Inspired Action WebsiteJoin Wendy's Email ListWendy’s WebsiteWendy’s InstagramWendy's LinkedInWendy's TikTokE-mail Wendy
