19. The Knowledge You Acquire Will Fortify You Against Poverty.
from POK EXPERIENCE · host Olawumi Kolawole
Ever wondered why I insist on the importance of reading books? It's not just about a casual pastime; it's a strategy to fortify yourself from unnecessary suffering and poverty. We're living in an era defined by information, where a single piece of knowledge can be your ticket out of trenches. You've heard it before: No knowledge is waste. That's precisely why your pursuit of knowledge should know no bounds. But this isn't limited to simply flipping through pages. It extends to gaining valuable experiences that act as your armour against poverty's grip. Just the other day, someone asked me why they should bother learning something new when their years of education haven't landed them a job. I told them this: embracing new learning broadens your horizons. If your existing knowledge hasn't opened doors, perhaps you haven't yet grasped what's truly valuable. Consider this: knowing the chemical composition of wood might not be enough to secure a job, simply because there isn't high demand for that particular expertise. The key is to never halt your learning journey. Every bit of knowledge you accumulate strengthens your defences against poverty. It furnishes you with opportunities, whether that means a job, or even embarking on a business venture rooted in the ideas you've cultivated. So, let's not question the importance of continuous learning and knowledge acquisition. Instead, let's ask ourselves how much we're willing to invest in our own prosperity. With every piece of knowledge you gain, you build a stronger foundation for success and resilience against life's challenges. GYLT M2S
