19. Trigger warning: Is bed-sharing safe?

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), every year, around 3,500 babies in the United States die suddenly and unexpectedly while they're sleeping. Most of these tragic deaths are due to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) or accidental deaths from suffocation or strangulation. I know this is an American organization, but Canadian doctors use it a lot as they are very up-to-date with this research. As parents, we don’t have much control on a lot of things, but there is one thing we 100% have control over, and that is make the CHOICE on how safe our baby's sleep environment is. As you know, we always commit to giving you evidence based information. So today, we will discuss ways to ensure your baby is safe in their sleep environment. Now that we are at episode 19, we are confident enough to start diving into triggering subjects. We started this podcast to help families, and that is what we will continue to do. We know some people could feel triggered by this subject, which is a normal reaction because there is so much conflicting information. The thing is, it is not all research-based information.
