Listen to todays episode here… Transcript: Welcome to The Art of Living big podcast. My name is Betsy Pake, and I’m an author, speaker, and a master mindset coach focused on helping you understand and design your life with the power of your subconscious. This podcast is designed to help you think differently about what could be possible for your life. Now, let’s go live big. Hello fellow adventurers. Happy Monday. This is this week’s version of hashtag. Big with Betsy, I don’t really think the hashtag is catching on. Nobody’s using it, but I’m using it. And I think it’s kind of fun. So if you share this episode with somebody, or you share it on social media, please hashtag me so that I can find you. So this week, you know, my daughter got her license, and she started college. And next week, she turns 18. And her dad was getting pretty frustrated with her like we do with teenagers as they try to forge their own way and break free. And he said to me, I’m not a mind reader. And she doesn’t just ask for what she wants. And I got to thinking about that, not only because I vaguely remember him saying that to me 20 years ago. But also because I think that that is a really common pattern that we have. We don’t consciously expect other people to be mind reader’s. But we think it’s obvious what we need, when the reality is that everybody else, as we know, is looking at this life through their own set of filters, their own set of values. And so what is important to you, it may just not be important to somebody else. And so it never even occurs to them, that you might need help. Or you might need awareness, or you might need support, you know, just a witness to your life in this way. And so this week, for the intention, I want you to notice, where you’re just expecting other people to know what you need. And then maybe you’re becoming disappointed or frustrated, because you’re not getting it. I want you to think about what it is that you want. And then make it clear. Simply ask, use your words and say, This is what I need, can you help me with that? I can say this to my husband, this is what I need, I need you to stop what you’re doing. And listen to me when I talk to you about this thing. Or I need your help with these few things around the kitchen or in the house. Or maybe it’s your boss, I need you to tell me which one of these projects is most important. So I know how to delegate my time, because what happens instead is either they don’t hear us, and we get really frustrated. Or we put a lot of energy into something that really could be done in a much more efficient way. And I think what that comes down to is the fear of asking, because maybe we don’t realize that somebody else just isn’t aware. And maybe there’s a part of us that doesn’t think it’s that we’re worth it. And so start to notice what kinds of things you’re not asking for what you need, start to become aware. And see if there’s situations where you feel comfortable asking for what you need. And don’t give a whole lot of reasons. You don’t need to explain yourself, you can simply ask for what you need. You can know that you’re worth it. And you can be kind in the ask. And then if they say no, you can accept that freely. And know that there is another way for you to get what you need, or to move through the path. So this week, start asking, ask yourself even what is it that I need today? What is it I need to know? I asked my guides this almost every morning? What do I need to know today? Ask your boss any questions that you need clarity on, and if there’s something that you’re missing in your life, then ask somebody can you help me? Can you help me get that? There is no shame in asking for help. There’s no shame in asking for what we need. And in fact, if we all would just lean on each other a little bit more. We could all become stronger and start to live a really big life. Alright y’all, I will see you on Thursday for the full episode. And I hope you have an amazing week. Let me know where you’re asking. For what you need sees then thank you for joining me on this week’s intention. If this spoke to you and you choose to share it please hashtag live big with Betsy so that I can find you and celebrate your intentional living for the week.
