196. How To Be Authentic

from Dear Little Me

"Be strong, don't cry, suppress your emotions and strive to meet your parents' every expectation." In this episode we are talking about losing our authenticity as a result of parental expectation. From a young age, Dr Sajad Vahedi found himself living a life he had crafted to conform to the expectations of his family. Despite being an inherently emotional child, Sajad learned to stifle his feelings in order to adapt and survive in this environment. This emotional disconnect led him to develop what he calls a 'logical' persona, a facade he wore to navigate the world. When you disconnect from your emotions, especially during childhood, it can profoundly alter your identity. You end up presenting a version of yourself to the world that is not authentic. This divergence between your true self and your external persona can have immense consequences, such as entering into relationships with individuals who are drawn to the false image you project. Over time, you may become a people pleaser, prioritizing the needs of others at the expense of your own. It's easy to lose sight of your own authentic needs in the process. Sajad is an expert in understanding and transforming these patterns in relationships. He helps his clients learn how to reconnect with their genuine selves and break free from the constraints of false personas.Join us for Sajad's insightful and inspiring story as he shares his journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
