197 | Loving People Well: Overcoming Digital Addiction, with Mary Catherine Liscinski

from Thriving in Christ | Professional Women, High Level Habits, Resilience, Burnout, Stress, Grief · host Dr. Ioana Popa | Psychiatrist Educator, Executive Coach, Speaker & Spiritual Care Formation

What do we do with the digital addiction that is plaguing so many people and families? It is so common nowadays that we might not even recognize it. Digital addiction uses the brain power through dopamine, leading to its depletion and potential difficulties, such as sleeping disturbance, isolation and decreased interest in other areas of life. This is such an ubiquitous problem and Mary Catherine Liscinski has been moved to help families overcome it. She is a licensed professional counselor and certified life coach specializing in Digital Addiction  recently released her first book - A Guide for Getting Your Kids Off Screens: How Devices Harm Brains, Bodies, and Relationships, and How to Help Your Child. She has her own practice and coaches nationwide. She loves working with teens, adults, and families, and has a passion for helping them thrive. In her spare time, Mary Catherine loves to read and be outside, and when she can read outside, it’s the best of both worlds. In this Thriving In Christ episode, Mary Catherine and I talk about: ✨ Her journey in Christ, her mission trips and the concept of Third Individuation as one travels. ✨ Mary Catherine's early realization about her vocation as a counselor. ✨ Clear signs of digital addiction and ways to deal with it effectively. One of Mary Catherine's favorite Bible verses (which is so cool considering the topic of digital addiction!) is: "I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken."
