2 Timothy 1: Staying Attached to Jesus in a Culture of Shame

Shame has the power to make us withdraw, disassociate, and protect ourselves. In Second Epistle to Timothy 1, Paul reminds Timothy that the gospel itself is socially costly because it confronts the very things we build our identity on: achievement, self-rule, comfort, and certainty. Yet believers are not left alone. God gives His people a legacy of faith, the power of the Holy Spirit, and a community that helps us remain attached to Jesus when suffering or shame tempt us to pull away. This sermon explores why Christians are called not only to stand unashamed of Christ, but also unashamed of one another.
