#20 - Piet de Rooij - Geschiedenis van het onderwijs

Aap, noot, Mies, Wim, zus, Jet… Wie is er niet groot geworden met deze woorden van het leesplankje? Maar het onderwijs verandert snel. Is de ene vernieuwing pas net in gang gezet, dan komt vaak de volgende er alweer aan. Wat het onderwijs ook allemaal tot stand moet brengen, het is nooit goed genoeg. Piet de Rooij onderzoekt waar deze hooggespannen verwachtingen vandaan komen. Dat doet hij deels aan de hand van de loopbanen van zijn vaderen van hemzelf. Zijn vader werkte zijn leven lang in het onderwijs, zelf studeerde hij historische pedagogiek en was hoogleraar aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Tijdens ‘Lezen in het Donker’ laat hij zijn licht schijnen over de vele goede bedoelingen van het onderwijs, de talloze misvattingen en de harde belangen die het onderwijs in Nederland tot een veelkoppig monster hebben gemaakt.
