205 | Equipping Churches To Handle Trauma, With Rev. Jocelyn Jones

from Thriving in Christ | Professional Women, High Level Habits, Resilience, Burnout, Stress, Grief · host Dr. Ioana Popa | Psychiatrist Educator, Executive Coach, Speaker & Spiritual Care Formation

Trauma is more common than most people think. There are traumas that occur frequently and in smaller increments, and there are significant traumas, such as a major event. And praise God for mental health resources that are available nowadays to help with it on an individual level. Sometimes, though, trauma can be difficult to address in larger communities, especially without proper training. Reverend Jocelyn Jones has been doing the important work of educating churches and church leaders on how to handle trauma in a safe and informed way. Rev. Jocelyn is an author, speaker, trauma healing advocate, and coach. Altogether, she helps people heal from emotional wounds and live out their God-given purpose. She is also the founder of Faith on a Journey, a Christian Counseling & Training company, that equips churches to become trauma-informed communities. I interviewed her in RENEWAL CONVERSATIONS and she shared her journey from journalism all the way to training in ministry, to the forefront of helping other women and churches. In this Thriving In Christ episode, Rev. Jocelyn and I have conversations about: 💛 Why the phrase "Let's just pray about it" doesn't always work. 💛 Her journey to getting to know Christ on a deeper level. 💛 Three awesome tips that help her stay grounded. 💛 A powerful formula about utilizing your gifts (be sure to watch until the end)! She shared with us her favorite verse: Philippians 4:6-7 NIV "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
