21. Forging Ahead: Overcoming Loneliness, Exhaustion and Fear as a Trailblazer with Dr. Michelle Morkert, PhD

from She Flourishes with Brenda Jasmin · host Brenda Jasmin

Perfectionism, imposter syndrome, exhaustion, fear, and loneliness. These are common challenges women experience as they trailblaze their pathway to flourishing. Although the women’s movement has come a long way, there are still many social and economic issues that hinder a woman’s ability to fully flourish.   March is the month we celebrate International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, so it was the perfect time to have a conversation with Dr. Michelle Morkert, a women’s leadership coach and strategist, with a PhD in women’s and gender studies, about how the patriarchy operates in our lives, and what we can do to empower ourselves and trailblaze a path toward flourishing. Dr. Michelle Morkert partners with women leaders around the world to level up their careers, have an impact on their professional field, and work with joy. Dr. Michelle synthesizes her academic research, advanced certification in confidence and confidence coaching, and her own lived experience into individualized leadership coaching so that women can show up, stand up and speak up in any room.  Here are some of the topics we discuss: What it means to be a trailblazer. How to deal with the loneliness, exhaustion and fear that can show up when you are trailblazing your pathway to flourishing. How our inner critic gets in our way, and what we can do to deal with it. Learning from the women who have gone before us, so we can leave this world a better place for the next generations. “Glass-shattering confidence” and how to take courageous action in your own life. How to go beyond imposter syndrome and deal with perfectionism. “Second shift” labour and emotional labour that women experience. Developing self-trust, encouraging other women and celebrating success.
