22: Millennial Mamas: Authentic Parenting & Mental Health

from Next-Level You Podcast

I feel so BLESSED to be surrounded by some AMAZING professionals/entrepreneurs who have so much knowledge on the chapter of motherhood, as I myself prepare for it! Lauren is another gem that I have had the pleasure of bonding with over the past 7 months and she is the proud owner of Millennial Mama Therapy! This episode is jam packed with some valuable information for future mom's, soon-to-be mom's, current mom's, seasoned moms, veteran mom's...you name it! We discuss the importance of finding support and connection, challenges of motherhood, postpartum anxiety/depression, resources and supports for moms. We explore the expectations faced by millennial moms during the transition to motherhood, the pressure that is put on moms, and the unrealistic standards set by social media. We debunk a few myths that are out there related to doing "all the things" as a mom. We describe the concept of matrescence, which is the identity shift that occurs when becoming a mother. There's some valuable reminders in this episode for moms that we all need to hear! Reminders like: there's no right or wrong way to be a mom, giving oneself grace, & being "good enough" versus perfect.
