234. Holding the Space with Media in Mind

from Waldorf Essentials

Melisa and Erik Nielsen at Waldorf Essentials focus on holding the space when it comes to media.    Melisa and Erik look a little deeper than most when it comes to holding the space.    - Always pre watch before your child see's it.    - Common sense media is a great resource but you always have to keep in mind what is going on for your child and if that show or movie would be right. For example, if there has been a death, difficult situation, or co parenting challenge "is there something in that media that will effect your child deeper?"   - How long will you be watching? Know that up front and hold the space for only one show if that's what you said.    - Best way to know how your child is handling their media exposure...what is their reaction when you turn it off?   Reminder, just because you don't have a TV, you might have an iPad, phone etc... it's still media and screen time.    You can also find us on all podcast platforms "Waldorf Essentials" Please share with your fellow parenting friends and homeschoolers. When possible we’ll bring to attention any research or studies surrounding the topics we are exploring.
