24. Top 5 Rules You HAVE TO KNOW When Playing a Tournament

from T-Time with Tori Totlis

Tori sits down with Tara Bateman, Kim Eaton, and Pat Kuntz.  With their experience at the Desert Classic fresh on their minds, Tori and her guests dive into the top five rules every player needs to keep in mind when playing in a tournament.  Key Takeaways ?      (02:52) Know the difference between a red line and a yellow line. The red line is a lateral penalty area, in which there is always an option to play the ball. The rules have recently changed so that a player can now ground their club and pick up almost anything in the penalty area. A yellow penalty area may still be playable, such as across water. But it’s likely that the player will have to take a penalty of one stroke if the ball is in the water. ?      (11:53) Drop the ball from the cart path, considered a free relief. Other examples of free relief include ground under repair, casual water, embedded ball, animal hole, and a cable box within your swing path. ?      (18:14) When your ball moves on the putting green after marking it, the ball’s official place is still on that mark. Once you’ve marked it, you have to replace it, even if the ball enters the hole. ?      (22:10) When a ball is non-playable (ex. in a bush), a player has three options. 1) Take two club lengths from the ball in any direction; 2) Take the ball on the line to the flag stick and go back as far as needed; 3) Replay the shot. ?      (25:57) When a ball is OB (out-of-bounds) or lost, the only option is to retee it. If you’re not sure that the ball is lost, always play a provisional before going forward. That’s because, once you go forward, you can no longer go back to hit a provisional.  Connect with Our Guests: Tara Bateman: Instagram Kim Eaton: Instagram Pat Kuntz: Instagram Subscribe to our FREE Female Golfer Facebook Group: First<span class="x_gmail-MsoHyperlink" data-ogsc= "rgb(5, 99, ...
