#2452026/01/23(金)Demons out, fortunes in 2月3日は節分です。 February 3rd is Setsubun. As you may know, on Setsubun, people throw beans while chanting “Demons out, fortune in!”However, at Saishōji Temple in Tochigi Prefecture, they say only “Good fortune in!” when throwing beans.Saishōji worships Bishamonten, who reforms demons. So they say only “Good fortune in!” to reform demonsin front of Bishamonten rather than kicking them out.【Today’s words】節分(せつぶん)/ The last day of winter※ It depends on the year, but usually February 3rd.※ To make the evil spirits out and good fortune in, we throw roasted beans on Setsubun.※ It’s said we throw beans (まめ)to beat the demon’s evil eye (魔の目/ まの め).※ We use roasted beans so beans won’t grow after throwing.★This post is also available on the broadcast channel (Japanese daily tips) of my Instagram. 【https://www.instagram.com/channel/AbbOi9lyhNtGwo6A/?igsh=enhqNGRyajhobnZ5】
