Moose goes Loose on the last-minute announcement of the Australian Marathon Championships to be held at the Sydney Marathon on Sunday 18th September, in less than two weeks time at time of recording.   Sprinter and founder of The Resilience Project Hugh van Cuylenberg joins Brady on a varied and interesting conversation, chatting about finding sprinting as a 38 year old and rekindling his passion for athletics from his days as a junior before pursuing cricket. Hugh chats about running fits into his life, and the benefits that come with it and his occasional forays in longer distances, before recounting how he came into contact with Catriona Bisset and her training squad, awestruck by the quality of athletes training. He evaluates his relationship with coach Peter Fortune, learning the culture of athletics and their training squads coming over from team sports, and the tenuous relationship with athletics in mainstream media, as well as how it's changed over the years and lamenting some aspects such the lack of pathways and social support. Hugh and Brady highlight why staying flow state is so important for mental wellbeing and how it relates to running,as well as prioritising internal validation over external and staying in awe of nature before they discuss how Hugh’s shoe obsession started at primary school and the story of his first pair of spikes and the shoes he loves at the moment.
