Engaging With AI in Spiritual Matters Faith Debate: Sunday, September 13th, 2026 (09/20/26 on 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland) How serious are deepfakes? Can AI provide true spiritual counsel, as people replace true shepherding for algorithmic comfort? If used for sermons will AI bring bad preaching? Does tech erode understanding that human thought/creativity/relationships are unique/valuable because humans bear God's image? What's the case for/against engaging AI? Is it faithful, or failure, to disengage? If saints don't interact with AI, do they forfeit opportunity to shape it? Will Christian absence interacting mean the training data will skew further from a biblical framework? Is there a responsibility to engage AI development, prompt AI tools with theological content, & work in AI industries as a vocational calling? Or would this normalize a tech whose long-term effects are maybe corrosive?
